DEREK MARTIN
DIRECTOR / Cost Management and Control

Primarily working in the Canary Wharf area of London for the last six years, Derek Martin has been commuting from Athlone, County Westmeath on a weekly basis undertaking the role as Project Manager and Managing Surveyor on the Royal Wharf Development with a £885million construction value delivering over 3,000 residential units. Derek now splits his time between London and Athlone. Prior to this role Derek was the Group Construction Manager for the ABP Food Group leading all CAPEX construction projects in the groups UK and Irish facilities.
Before taking up the role with Larry Goodman’s company, Derek ran his own PQS practice in Athlone and was involved in numerous Commercial and Housing projects in the Midlands.​

MICHAEL McLAVIN
DIRECTOR / Development
​
Working alongside Derek in the Irish office is Development Director, Michael McLavin, a Westmeath native from Castletown Geoghegan. He was the Client's Development Manager on the West ferry Tower and Quay House projects for Property Developer, Rockwell, in London. Prior to joining Acumen, he was working in Dubai as Commercial Manager on the International Airport terminal and Oil & gas projects in Kazakhstan. Michael was previously Bennett Construction Estimator and ran a successful QS Practice in Mullingar for seven years.
